A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers, supporters, and visitors who stopped by our booth at the Multicultural Festival in Willow Park/Victoria Park on June 20 and 21!
We collected 316 petition signatures over Saturday and Sunday. Together, we raised our voices in support of migrant workers in Canada, LGBTQ++ activists in Russia, women and girls in Afghanistan, and Zeynab Jalalian, a long-term political prisoner in Iran.
June 21 also marked National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day to recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. We were honoured to participate in a community event that reflected the diversity, inclusion, and respect that are essential to advancing human rights for all.
Our activity also brought people of all ages together, as children and adults coloured pieces of a heart-shaped jigsaw puzzle to express their solidarity with people whose rights and freedoms are under threat around the world.
Blessed with beautiful sunshine and a vibrant festival atmosphere, the weekend was filled with meaningful conversations, community connections, and a shared commitment to human dignity and justice.
Together, we continue to stand up for human rights. Thank you for helping us build a more just, inclusive, and compassionate world.
